LONG TOUR of BULGARIA
(including the Black Sea Coast)
Day 01 – Arrival to Bulgaria from
Romania across the Danube Bridge (change of coaches at Giurgiu). Drive
to Shumen. Check-in Shumen hotel****. Visit to Tombul Mosque – the
largest mosque in Bulgaria, built in the 18th c. Dinner
with folklore show in the famous tavern "The Old Shumen".
Day 02- Stay in Shumen. Visit to the town of Preslav – museum
and ruins of the capital town of the Bulgarian First Kingdom (7th-10th
c.). Some of the most precious exhibits in the museum are the original
gold treasure (10th c) and one of the oldest ceramic icons
(9th c). After lunch visit to KABIYUK – horse farm,
founded in the 19th c., growing racial horses; visit of the
Museum of the horse, possibility to ride, or drive on a horse cart, if
interested. Possibility for wine tasting in a wine cellar of famous
Bulgarian white-wines, which are produced for export to Europe and
Japan. Five sorts of white wine and light snacks. Dinner at the
"Panorama" restaurant of Shumen hotel**** with local special
dishes.
Day 03 - Drive to Varna. En route visit to Madara Horseman-
relief on the rocks (9th.c) one of the Bulgarian monuments
included in the UNESCO World heritage list. Check-in Cherno More
hotel*** and lunch at local restaurant, seafood menu. Sightseeing of
Varna – the largest town at the Bulgarian Black Sea coast. Visit to
the History museum and the Roman Baths. Dinner at hotel.
Day 04 - Drive along the coast to the town of Nessebar
picturesquely situated on a small peninsula with beautiful old houses
and ruins of medieval churches also a monument of the UNESCO World
heritage list.Lunch at local restaurant – fish menu. Drive to Plovdiv. Check-in
Novotel Plovdiv*****. Dinner at hotel.
Day 05 - Sightseeing of the old town in Plovdiv (mainly by
foot) with visit to the Ethnographic museum and the Roman Theatre (2nd
c. AD). Some free time in the central pedestrian area for shopping.
Lunch at local restaurant in the old town.
Drive to Sofia. Check-in hotel**** Dinner at hotel
Day 06- Full day Sightseeing of Sofia – central part with
Al.Nevski Cathedral, St. Sofia church, the Russian church, Roman
ruins, St.George rotunda. Visit to the National History Museum and
Boyana Church with unique frescoes from the 13th c. a
monument of the UNESCO World heritage list.
Lunch in Sofia at local restaurant. Dinner with folklore show at
Boyansko hanche (or similar), including 4 course meal with alcohol
drinks.
Day 07- Full day excursion to Rila Monastery - the biggest and
one of the oldest Bulgarian monasteries (founded in the 10th
c.) also included in the UNESCO World heritage list. Lunch at local
restaurant - fresh trout fish menu.
Day 08 - Time at leisure and departure.
